Making friends across cultures

Dear Congress Participants, past, present and future

Which recent SIETAR Congresses do you recall the most?
Probably the ones that gave you feelings of community, enjoyment and opportunities to be together. This year's congress at La Colle sur Loup will do all that.

To create this atmosphere, we would love to use all of the location's facilities exclusively.

And to ensure that we have exclusive use we must confirm our reservation quota now!

What does this exclusive use mean for you?

If enough participants book now, we all get...

  • all facilities in the same place
  • exclusive areas: just for us
  • campus atmosphere
  • family accommodation possibility

If we achieve our booking target now, we'll get much more from the venue.

Your family members will be able to stay with your in the congress exclusive area.

There will be a more relaxed, campus atmosphere, allowing you to develop your professional knowledge, meet friends and colleagues and experience exciting products and materials.

Registering is easy. Just click here, then "Registration".

The congress website is full of information on all aspects of the event and if you need any assistance whatever, call us: +33 6 03 86 04 94.

You have heard of "feedback", but the problem with feedback is that it comes too late to change anything.

So this year you will have the chance to "feed-forward!" You can

  • tell the speakers what you expect
  • ask them what you want to know about their session before the workshop starts

Each workshop description contains a link to send your questions and comments to the presenter(s). Just click where it says, "Communicate your questions and expectations." inside your chosen workshop's description. The presenter(s) will collect all your suggestions and take them into account as they prepare their workshops.

You can also register and pay for your place on a workshop via the site. Don’t delay as places are limited!

BUSINESS OF CULTURE 2005

Hofstede, Smith and Renwick a great success!

This year's Business of Culture event was our largest event of this kind yet - with more
than 130 people gathering in London's Regents College to hear talks by Peter
Smith, George Renwick and Geert Hofstede.

The day started after some tea and coffee with a talk by Peter Smith from the University of Sussex. Peter is a renowned cross-cultural psychologist who has researched managerial behaviour across cultures very extensively, and presented some of his recent findings. Peter also asked everybody to participate in his research, although that meant filling out some questionaires!

After a short break, George Renwick addressed the audience, focusing on the future
of the intercultural profession. A very lively and enging debate followed his
short presentation!

After lunch, one of the pioneers in the area of culture and its impact on international
business took centre stage, with Geert Hofstede talking not only about his recent
publications but also discussing the various aspects of his research.
